Grant staunchly opposes Bradley Cove development
'We must stop this ecocide and travesty to our earth and peoples'
Editor, Asbury Park Sun,
One of the most important accomplishments that a governmental body can do is to preserve and protect the land they live on, the waters they live near, and all natural resources which sustain life for the peoples they represent.
Preserving natural areas is critical to the quality of the air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat. The beaches, boardwalk and public land in Asbury Park are our common inheritance.
Their protection and maintenance for all peoples must be our collective responsibility.
The acquisition of the development and property rights of the land immediately adjacent to public lands on the North end ocean front and Deal Lake in Asbury Park would allow the creation of an oceanfront park, preserved in order to bring to city residents and park users health benefits associated with outdoor recreation, increased community cohesion, clean water and air, flood control, and storm buffering. The economic, ecological, health and community benefit will far outweigh any tax revenue generated by any new development at this location by waterfront redeveloper iStar Financial.
We must stop this ecocide and travesty to our earth and peoples now.
