'So many agree that this city is a much better place to live in than it was, even six years ago'

Editor, the Asbury Park Sun:

As the Asbury Park election draws near, all of the Forward Asbury candidates are working hard, going door-to-door and listening to the community. While talking with our residents, so many agree that this city is a much better place to live in than it was, even six years ago.

Not only are we developing the Downtown and the Waterfront, but the Springwood Avenue corridor is coming alive with new infrastructure – a senior center, a community park, and plans for five new building projects that will feature housing, restaurants, shops, and a performing arts center. The Springwood revival will bring in jobs, create stability and eradicate crime far better than any committee or program. This is progress you can count on, because it’s real. It’s happening as you read this letter.

We are at a crossroads and we need to stay the course. Those who choose to “split the tickets” may impede a City Council that would otherwise share common goals and a common vision for the future of Asbury Park. Splitting the tickets will be bad for redevelopment, bad for stability, and bad for Asbury Park.

I’ve worked with John Loffredo and Kevin Sanders on the City Council now for five years. We have a proven record of moving our city forward. Our running mates, Will Potter and Greg Hopson, are two individuals who are ready to work, offering fresh perspectives and a collaborative spirit.

We need capable people that know how a city works. Our City Council should be no one’s “training wheels.” This Tuesday, I ask you to do the right thing for all of Asbury Park. Vote 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 to keep Asbury Park moving Forward.

— Councilwoman Sue Henderson, Asbury Park
