According to National Weather forecasters, Tropical Storm Hermine climatic impact on our area is expected Sunday morning and its effects will linger through Wednesday.
Rain, heavy winds, and flooding is expected, according to officials.
The Asbury Park Police Department has issued the following storm advisory:
Due to Hermine, significant rain, high winds and flash flooding are possible in our area. Please monitor your local weather channel for updated and or additional information. Please take precautions when traveling. If you reside in an area within the city that normally floods [i.e., Wesley Lake/Deal Lake, Bangs/Ridge Area], you are reminded to take precautions such as relocating your vehicle to a safe location. Please remove or secure items which may blow away.
While Saturday is expected to be mostly cloudy, with a high near 75 degrees and low near 61, east winds are forecasted to reach 17 to 21 miles per hour.
Hermine’s tropical storm conditions is expected after 9 a.m. Sunday, bringing rain and northeast winds between 28 and 33 mph. The day’s high will reach 74 degrees and a 67 degree low, with up to 36 mph winds overnight.
Currently the Labor Day forecasts predicts a continuation of rain and storm conditions, with temperatures reaching 75 degrees and dropping to 68 degrees overnight.
By Tuesday the storm conditions begin to lessen with a partly sunny 82 degree high and 69 degree low.
On Wednesday forecasters predict the storm conditions remain possible but the mostly sunny day will reach 84 degrees and a 71 degree overnight low.
