Hold Fast records moves up Cookman
New location opens Saturday next to Twisted Tree cafe
A record store selling vintage clothing, jewelry and collectable LPs is moving a few doors up the street on Cookman Avenue.
Hold Fast records — owned by husband-and-wife team Joe Koukos [above] and Meghan Scott — will reopen on Saturday morning at 611 Cookman Ave. next to the Twisted Tree natural foods cafe.
“It’s more visibility and more cost-effective,” said Koukos of the new location. “We can do a lot more of what we do. More records. More cassettes.”
To mark the Saturday morning opening, Koukos said that “we’ll be putting out some ridiculously rare records. We’ve been saving up really rare records for more than a month. That doesn’t sound like a long time, but it is in this business.”
Hold Fast opened in its current Cookman Avenue location in March, 2009, Koukos said. Asbury developer Patrick Fasano owns both Hold Fast’s current and future locations.
Store hours are seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 9 p.m., with a 6 p.m. closing on Sundays. The existing store will remain open until the new location opens its doors on Saturday, Koukos said.
