Hundreds Turn Out For APMF Music Mondays Launch
Springwood Avenue Park free concert series runs through August
Music Mondays at Springwood Avenue Park kicked off with hundreds turning out for performances by headliner Gary U.S. Bonds and opener Laura Crisci & PK Lavengood. Organizers said it was one of the highest attendance numbers on record, since the free music concert series began.
Sponsored by the Asbury Park Music Foundation, a nonprofit that provides music-based programs, events and resources in support of youth programs like those currently at Hope Academy, the Lakehouse Academy and the Hip Hop Institute at the Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County.
The 10-week concert series launched in the summer of 2016 through a Levitt AMP grant.
This year Music Mondays at Springwood Avenue Park is sponsored by the Interfaith Neighbors, the City of Asbury Park, the Asbury Park Press, boardwalk redeveloper Madison Marquette, New Jersey Natural Gas, and booking by UMTPresents.
New this year is food offered by the neighboring Kula Cafe, and the Complete Streets Coalition sponsored bicycle coral.
