Incumbents Will Keep Control of City Council

Voters reelect Chapman, Clayton & Quinn by near 2 to 1 margin

Control of the City Asbury Park City Council remains with the incumbent Asbury Together ticket comprised of Amy Quinn, Yvonne Clayton and Eileen Chapman.

“We want to thank the voters in Asbury Park who came out to support us today,” said Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn, who was the top vote getter with 2,142 votes. “We are deeply humbled and happy to continue serving the community.”asbury-together

The incumbents were challenged by the Citizens for Asbury Park ticket comprised of community leader and Zoning Board of Adjustment member Daniel Harris, and Board of Education members Kenneth Saunders Jr and Stephen Williams.

“I’m so excited,” Clayton said. “What this means is that we get to continue what we started and see it come to fruition. There are so many wonderful things that will be happening — developement all over the city, We have a new transportation planner, and we get to address some of the public’s concerns.”

The Asbury Together ticket celebrated their victory art 629 Gallery, [shown at right] where they kicked off their campaign.

“We are honored to be on the Council  for the next four years,” Chapman said. “We will be working hard to make great things happen in Asbury Park.”

The final votes as of 9:30 p.m. were as follows:

Quinn:  2,142

Clayton: 2122

Chapman: 2,046

Harris:  1,296

Williams: 1,201

Saunders: 1,323

Write In: 22
