Indian summer is on its way
Post Labor Day festival returns with an added flare and overnight camping
Indian Summer Festival organizers announced today that the post Labor Day musical event will expand into a two-day offering with the option of camping overnight near a bonfire.
The festival returns Sept. 26 and 27 at the Anchor’s Bend along the Asbury Park Boardwalk.
“I always think of that line from Fight Club, the one about…‘We’re the people who cook your food and serve your dinner…We guard you while you’re asleep. We drive the ambulances. We are cooks and taxi drivers,’ paraphrased co-founder Joe Chyb, a local musician and promoter. “This is our time to step back, take a breath, enjoy a beer and the beach in each other’s company, and celebrate a summer of hard work well done. This is the party we throw for our friends, family, neighbors and coworkers to just have a good time and see some cool bands.”
This year, concerts feature over a dozen acts, including local favorites like Miss TK & The Revenge, Von Mons, and The Ribeye Brothers. Event co-founder and organizer Colin Carhart of the psychedelic rock band Wreaths performed at last year’s Indian Summer Fest, and will be performing at this year’s event as well.
“Indian Summer is a celebration of Asbury Park culture,” event co-founder Colin Carhart said. “We are about music, the beach and community. Everyone works really hard during the summer to make this place what it is and what it will become. This is the after party to the whole summer as we move into autumn. And what’s better than hanging out with your friends on the beach listening to great music?”
Indian Summer also showcases the entrepreneurial spirit of local vendors at a pop-up market in the Grand Arcade. The vendor wares are a specially curated selection of shops brought to you by the Asbury Park Fall Bazaar.
“This is only our third year of the Asbury Park Bazaar and the second year of Indian Summer, so it’s incredible to see how much it’s grown,” said Bazaar founder Jennifer Vickers. “This year promises to be extra amazing with some really incredible bands, a talented community of artists and vendors, and now a beach brunch, bonfire, and camping! This is going to be one of those weekends you’ll never forget.”
Organizers have set aside 40 12’x12’ campsites, offered on a first come, first served basis.
Campsite fees are $30 per site and tickets for the music portion of the event are sold at $10 for both days and $5 for a Sunday only ticket.
Campsite location cannot be reserved but a spot will be held for those who register while spots are still available. For more information, visit the Indian summer or Asbury Park Bazaar , or event Facebook page. Tickets are available here.
