Asbury Park's Racial Justice Project plans program for Monday, October 12
With the City of Asbury Park recognizing Indigenous People’s Day this year, the Asbury Park Racial Justice Project is planning a celebration of the event at Springwood Park on Monday, October 12 from noon to 2 pm.
The following is the news release from the Racial Justice Project announcing the event:
The Racial Justice Project is excited to announce that the City of Asbury Park has officially recognized Indigenous People’s Day this year.
Indigenous People’s Day (the second Monday of October each year) is an internationally recognized day of celebration to recognize and honor the resistance, heritage, cultures and valuable contributions of Indigenous People, the original occupants and stewards of the land of Turtle Island. It is also a day to remember the great injustices of settler colonialism, land theft, and genocide that the United States has and continues to perpetuate towards Indigenous people and to work toward justice.
