iStar Beach Club Plans Prompts City Council Venue Change
Feb 13 Meeting Will Be Held At Asbury Park High School
A presentation of iStar’s beach club plans, to be located at 1500 Ocean Ave, has prompted city officials to change its next meeting venue.
The Asbury Park City Council Feb 13 meetings will be held inside the Asbury Park High School Auditorium, officials announced today.
“With iStar’s expected presentation of the beach club, we are anticipating an incredibly high turnout for participation at the February 13th meeting,” Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn said. “Moving it from City Hall to Asbury Park High School auditorium will give us space to accommodate our concerned residents.”
Spearheaded by iStar’s creative lead Anda Andrei, in conjunction with Handel Architects, the architect behind the nearby Asbury Ocean Club high rise currently underway, the project pays tribute to the area’s history as a beach and bathing club during the mid-1900s, iStar Senior Vice President of Land Development Brian Cheripka has said.
“We are excited to unveil the project to the public and begin the review process,” Cheripka has said. “Asbury Park is a remarkable community with a special character and history. iStar is proud to play a leading role in its renaissance by continuing to bring forward award-winning development projects.”
The project will boast a thoughtful and environmentally friendly design, features a large pool, cabanas, restrooms, lockers, and an outdoor grill area for food service on the ground floor as well as a small rooftop deck, complete with a seating area, Cheripka said.
iStar’s presentation will be held during the 6 pm workshop meeting. The public will have an opportunity to comment and ask questions during the 7 pm public comment period. The high school is located at 1003 Sunset Ave.
