Local bar owner John McGillion is using local talent to name three new bars, and he’s planning to pick the winners on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at Johnny Mac’s on Main Street.
McGillion recently purchased the former Adriatic restaurant and has been doing construction there for the past few months. He’s also been running a naming contest via email, advertised by a sign at the Kingsley Street locale [pictured above].
Now, McGillion’s added two more bars to the mix. Two bars he owns in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, need names too.
The person who names the Asbury bar, intended to cater to the gay community, will receive a prize of $500, and those who name the Brooklyn bars will receive $499 and $498.
McGillion also recently purchased the former YMCA on Main Street. He plans to built a bar there, as well as a hostel on the upper floors. He also hopes to build a hostel on the upper floors of the Adriatic and expand the upper floor of the Johnny Mac’s building into a neighboring property.
