JR Inman returns to host basketball clinic
Boys & Girls Club members to get more than basketball skill tutorial
NBA free agent JR Inman will return Monday to host a basketball clinic for the city’s youth at the Boys & Girls Club of Monmouth County in Asbury.
Inman is a former Rutgers forward who is now a free agent and D League player with the National Basketball Association [NBA].
“We are so grateful to have JR back at the Club to share his expertise and passion for the sport with our kids,” said Doug Eagles, Boys & Girls Club Executive Director, in a written statement. “It is so encouraging to see such a bright young man use his talent to motivate our young people.”
Close to 100 kids, ages 5 to 13, enrolled in the Club’s summer camp program will participate in Inman’s Rocktown Monarchs Inc. sponsored clinic. The program not only teaches basic basketball skills but also instills the importance of leadership, community outreach and education, according to a news release.
“I am looking forward to conducting my clinic again for the children of the Monmouth Boys & Girls Club,” Inman said in written statement. “Using my Rocktown system, we will encourage the kids to utilize their gifts and teach them how to make appropriate life decisions.”
Inman, who played last year with the Westchester Knicks, has tailored the clinic to help novice basketball players.
The clinic will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes lunch and a lecture by Inman based on his autobiography “When the Air Comes Out of the Ball.”
