Juice Basin owner named Top 25 Leading Women Entrepreneur
Flimlin honored for business acumen and ability to influence and inspire
Asbury Park business owner Reggie Flimlin has been named one of the state’s top 25 Leading Women Entrepreneurs and Intrapreneurs by Leading Women Entrepreneurs [LWE].
LWE is a media and events company working to honor outstanding female business owners in order to help foster a sustainable environment that unites and showcases their attributes and contributions.
Flimlin, who was chosen from hundreds of candidates, cofounded juice basin in 2010 with husband Enrique Wegel [both shown in featured photo].
While their holistic venue opened as ‘yoga basin/basin bar’ within Asbury Park’s health and wellness district, it relaunched on Fourth Avenue, between Main Street and Memorial Drive; making it one of the first businesses to spark revitalization of the north Main Street urban redevelopment area.
“After much consideration, in our third year, we closed yoga basin/basin bar and shifted our sole focus on juice basin in response to the local need for USDA Organic certified juice and gourmet blends, complemented by grab and go vegan raw meals and [to] create your own super smoothies,” Flimlin said in a June 9 written statement.
Flimlin has said the business represents her mission for urban renewal and creating positive energy in all aspects of life. The business is a draw for the city’s surf, yoga and rock-n-roll community.
The cold press juice business expansion created local jobs by employing local youth, thereby delivering the building blocks for mainstream employment. The company also work to support disenfranchised and economically challenged communities via free wellness consultation and continual education.
Flimlin runs a second location in Montclair and her products are distributed at Whole Foods Market in Spring Lake/Wall.
“juice basin continues to grow at a steady pace maintaining its mission of positive energy”, she says.
The Leading Women Entrepreneurs accolade was announced earlier this month via live video stream.
LWE founder Linda Wellbrock said the Top 25 were chosen from hundreds of nominees based on strong business acumen and the ability to both influence and inspire within their respective industries. They were judged in part on market potential, innovation, advocacy for women and community involvement.
“The women we recognize are amazing role models for women in entrepreneurship and business everywhere,” Wellbrock said. “Their tremendous accomplishments are representative of the increasing impact women are making in the world of business.”
In his 2015 address during the LWE’s recognition ceremony, Sen Corey Booker said the number of women owned business grew 68 percent since 2007. Last year, women owned business numbered over 231,000 and garnered $45 billion in sales.
This year’s recognition event will be held Nov. 14 at Liberty House in Jersey City. For more information, visit LWE website here.
