Police Chief Mark Kinmon is inviting the public to his second in a series of chief’s advisory meetings.
The chief will speak at 6 p.m. in the city hall council chambers tomorrow — Thursday, Aug. 23.
“I’m going to discuss our internal affairs process,” Kinmon said today. “I’m also going to give some updated crime statistics.”
The first chief’s advisory meeting was held in the springtime. Kinmon started holding the sessions “based on a concern that some members of the community had regarding internal affairs and police conduct,” he said. “We decided to meet and discuss all the issues that come up within the community and the concerns that are raised by everybody.”
Kinmon will address the public first and then allow questions and comments, he said.
“I hope that people have the time to come out tomorrow night,” he said. “It’s a good way for everybody to stay informed of what the police department is doing and address any concerns they want to bring up to us.”
