Adults and kids are invited to learn the secrets of professional kite and sandcastle builders this Saturday at a “Kites and Castles” event on Asbury Park’s 3rd Avenue beach.

Sponsored by the “Stronger Than the Storm” campaign, Kites and Castles brings world class sand sculptors and kite makers out to teach beachgoers of all ages tips and techniques to improve their skills, according to the event’s Facebook page.

Free workshops will be offered along with opportunities to play various beach games. In addition, a sand sculpture will be built by a world class sculptor.

The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the 3rd Avenue beach, weather permitting.

Participation in the event is free, but anyone over 12 years old must pay the daily rate for beach access.

Stronger than the Storm is a comprehensive consumer campaign developed to raise awareness of the Jersey Shore’s recovery from Superstorm Sandy in an effort to support tourism and local businesses, according to their website.

The campaign is managed by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority with support from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development.
