Krampus Is Coming
Paranormal Books & Curiosities Fifth Annual Festival Runs Friday Thru Sunday In Downtown AP
Paranormal Books & Curiosities celebrates its Fifth Annual Krampus with a host of new and favored offerings on Friday through Sunday.
“It’s the little festival that could, or would, or just won’t stop,” event Founder and bookstore owner Kathy Kelly said in a written news statement. “It is a shock, but we are so psyched.”
St. Nick’s counterpart from German and Austrian 15th-century folklore, the horned figure who punishes misbehaved children has his own day of recognition – Krampusnacht, celebrated on Dec 5.
Locally, Kelly and her team’s Krampus Asbury Park has grown into a popular event that attracts a diverse and often costumed-clad crowd to the city’s downtown.
“ For those who have participated in the past you know just how much fun this event is and how dedicated the attendees are,” she said. “It’s truly a community event with people just having a good time scaring children; just kidding- the kids totally get it.”
Among the favored events is the Krampus Asbury Park tour, photos with Yeti & Krampus, the unleashing or rather, film festival, reading of the ‘Naughty List,’ running of the Krampuses, and tree lighting.
New this year are a Gingerbread House Contest, being judged by the city’s own Sweet Dani B; Operation Escape the Sleigh Scavenger Hunt; and a Sunday breakfast event.
