KrampusAP Weekend unleashes Friday & Saturday
Naughty list: pics w/ Yeti, film shorts, readings & walking tour
Have you been naughty or nice?
Chances are the naughty are well aware of Krampus – the Santa Claus antithesis of German and Austrian yuletide folklore.
And, as Dec. 5 is known as Krampusnacht – when Krampus seeks out the naughty – so it will be celebrated here in Asbury Park.
Hosted by Paranormal Books and Curiosities on Cookman Avenue, KrampusAP kicks off 6:30 p.m. Friday night with opportunity to have one’s picture taken with Yeti & Krampus. A $5 donation will benefit Best Friends Forever Dog Rescue.
At 7:30 p.m. author Matt Lake will host the Krampus Film Festivus at the nearby Show Room, 707 Cookman Ave. The screening brings together a collection of shorts submitted by area filmmakers.
And as Small Business Saturday run from noon to 6 p.m., the Krampus Naught List will be read 1 p.m. Saturday outside Paranormal Books and Curiosities.
The Tales of the Krampus Walking Tour follows at 2 p.m. from Paranormal’s storefront, featuring short story submissions. Return by 3 p.m. for the unveiling of KrampusAP Mask by special effects artist Meg Wilbur of SyFy’s ‘FaceOff.’
The Gathering of the Krampusse kicks off at 3:35 p.m. in Merchants Park and is followed by the 4:15 Unleashing toward Press Plaza.
Crowning of the 2015 KrampusAP will occur at 4:45 p.m. just before the 5 p.m. lighting of the Downtown district’s tree at Cookman Avenue and Emory Street.
The official KrampusAP ‘Naughty’ after party sets off at 6 p.m. at the Asbury Festhalle and Biergarten at 527 Lake Avenue.
