Kula’s Deep Blues Blues Night to take a winter break
Live music will return May 1
Thursday night, Feb. 6, marks the last time Al Holmes and the Tribe will play Kula Café’s “Deep Blue Blues Night” before the band takes its winter break, according to a release from the café owners.
Since last summer, front man and guitarist Holmes has played beside bassist Gene Boccia and drummer Al Johnson [shown above] every first and third Thursday of the month at the café, along with special guest musicians.
The café serves dinner on blues night from 7 to 10 p.m.
Owned and operated by Interfaith Neighbors, Kula Café plans to start up the blues performances again on Thursday, May 1. The restaurant, located at 1201 Springwood Ave., is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays.
Besides offering good food at a fair price, the café under chef Wendy Escobedo trains young men and women who may have faced employment barriers in the past to get future jobs in the shore hospitality and restaurant industry.
