KYDS & Clinch Pair Up For Saturday Soulful Showcase
Open mic event kicks off with Mindful Meditation at Danny Clinch Transparent Gallery in The Asbury
Konscious Youth Development & Service [KYDS] and the Danny Clinch Transparent gallery are pairing up to present a Saturday Soul Showcase at The Asbury, located at 210 Fifth Ave in Asbury Park.
The free event will be filled with creative expressions of music, poetry, singing and other forms of art, KYDS co founder Mychal Mills said in a written statement.
“KYDS is bringing conscious vibes to the beauty of Danny’s gallery space, he said. “There will be a diversity of dynamic performers.”
Founded by Mills [of Neptune] in partnership with Rodney Salomon [of Marlboro], KYDS is a local nonprofit that works to help Monmouth County’s youth develop a holistic approach to life’s challenges.
The duo have administered programs at the Asbury Park, Neptune, Ocean Township, and Marlboro school districts, and host the Open Mic and Meditation events at Kula Cafe on Springwood Avenue. They have also led programs in partnership with Red Bank based Project Write Now and Lunch Break.
This year, the pair took on administration of the 15-week Junior Entrepreneur Training [JET] program offered through Interfaith Neighbors to middle school aged students from Asbury Park schools.
This means their day will start at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Made in Monmouth event at Monmouth University where the budding entrepreneurs will sell wares they brought into fruition and made possible by a $200 investment allocated by a team of local sharks [business professionals].
Clinch, a famed music industry photographer from Toms River launched the temporary gallery in January, in partnership with local vintage, mid-century furniture purveyors Tina Kerekes and Lamar Vannoy.
He has said: “Transparent is a place where you can escape reality and live in the art and music scene.”
Mills and Salomon will return by 6 p.m. to kick off the Soulful Showcase at Danny Clinch Transparent.
The night will kick off with a Mindful Meditation at 6:25 p.m. before the 7 p.m. Soul Showcase begins.
The event is free admission, with donations going in support of their mission to prepare and create future leaders through holistic intervention.
