Lakehouse Academy Summer Music Camp Registration Begins
Open House showcases programming for ages 5 to 18
Lakehouse Music Academy has announced its Summer Camp programing.
This year’s lineup features Get Started Music and Arts Camps for ages 5 to 10, and Teen Core Camps for ages 10 to 18. Field trips are held during Jersey Rockers Week at the Stone Pony.
“Our summer camps are not only popular with locals but we’re also getting a lot of interest from New York and Northern NJ families migrating to Asbury Park during the summer to take advantage of its cultural revival and give their children a one-of-a-kind summer experience,” Academy Director Albie Monterrosa said.
The Lake Avenue nonprofit will hold the open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 28. The Academy’s Junior Pros band [ages 9 to 12, shown above] will perform during the event.
The Get Started Music and Arts Camps gives kids a choose of six different themed weeks: Top 40 featuring their renditions of Taylor Swift and Katy Perry songs; Classic Rock with AC/DC, the Ramones, and Queen tunes; The Beatles; and the Jersey Rockers with music by Springsteen, Bon Jovi, and the Bouncing Souls.
These weekly tutorials start with learning how master their instrument of choice and includes costume and stage set design, and a performance for friends and family.
The Teen Core Camps, for ages 10-18, features a week of Audio Engineering, EDM [Electronic Dance Music], Guitar Wizards Shred, and All Things Vocal.
The Junior and Senior Songwriting and Recording weeks give teens the opportunity to write and record songs in one of Lakehouse’s recording studios with a guest teachers on their roster. They include singer-songwriter Glen Burtnik, who’s worked with Don Henley and Patty Smyth; songwriter/producer Ron Haney, who has worked with Alicia Keys; singer-songwriter Allie Moss who has worked with the Ingrid Michaelson band; and New York-based songwriting/producing duo Sturken and Rogers, who has worked with Rihanna and Christine Aguilera.
The camps run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, with aftercare available until 6 p.m. Discounts are available for registration made before March 15, including $50 off the first week and those for multiple weeks.
