Langosta dinner to benefit Nepal Earthquake victims
2 fundraising meals to benefit local groups follow
A seven-course Indian Tapas Dinner to benefit Nepal Earthquake victims will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Langosta Lounge.
The region sustained another blow Tuesday when a 7.3 magnitude quake killed at least 65 people and injured nearly 2,000, according to BBC News reports. The initial 7.8 magnitude quake that hit the region April 25 killed over 8,000 people.
Langosta’s prix fix menu is based on the oceanfront restaurant’s vacation destination-inspired cuisine, according to organizers. The entire $35 per person cost will go toward Waves for Water work in the region.
The nonprofit’s Nepal Relief Initiative works to provide clean water to affected areas by immediately distributing portable water filtration systems and then developing long-term solutions like rain-water harvest system and restoring wells, according to its website.
Langosta Lounge owner Marilyn Schlossbach will hold two other benefit events next week.
The first, a Tacos & Tequila tasting to benefit the Ladacin Network, a support agency for those with complex physical and developmental disabilities or delays, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. May 19 at the neighboring Pop’s Garage. Advance tickets are $35 per person or $45 at the door.
A five-course Tequila Dinner to benefit Purr’n Pooch Foundation for Animals will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Schlossbach’s flagship Labrador Lounge on Route 35 in Normandy Beach. Tickets are $65 per person, with $10 going toward the Shrewsbury-based charity.
