Langosta Lounge Hosts Holiday Beer Tasting Event Thursday
Partial proceeds to benefit Foodbank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties
Asbury Park boardwalk eatery Langosta Lounge will host a Holiday Beer Tasting from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday to benefit the Foodbank and Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
Patrons will sample four Ohio-based Rivertowne Brewery selections as well as a beer cocktail while sampling a selection of four tapas offerings.
Tickets are $25 per person, with $5 from each ticket sale donated to the local FoodBank.
According to the Foodbank’s website, every $1 donation can provide 3 meals. An estimated 1 million meals were provided through November.
“The Foodbank is such an integral part of our local communities,” said Langosta owner Marilyn Schlossbach. “The holidays can be financially and emotionally taxing on so many, including the wonderful organizations that support so many in need. Any way we can support the Foodbank to provide food and stability to our community is of great importance to our staff and our company.”
The Foodbank serves over 10 million meals annually to over 131,000 people throughout Monmouth and Ocean counties; over 51,000 are children, according to its website.
More than 50 percent served fall into the working poor category. Through a network of over 300 charitable programs the Foodbank offers child nutrition and senior food programs, nutrition education, a mobile pantry and volunteer garden.
Help with Food stamp applications, free tax preparation, finding affordable healthcare insurance, culinary job skills training and a financial success center are part of the Foodbank’s services.
