Langosta Lounge to host summer cooking demonstration
A portion of event proceeds will benefit 'Savoring the Shore' cookbook
Acclaimed Jersey Shore restaurateur Marilyn Schlossbach, alongside chefs from the Gourmand Cooking School and Drew’s Bayshore Bistro, will invite foodies and friends to celebrate the best of summer’s harvest at “Live, Cook, Love – Cooking with Marilyn & Friends” this June, according to a news release from event promoters.
The special collaborative cooking class will kick-off at 6 p.m. at Langosta Lounge on Wednesday, June 18 and feature tips and techniques from the three chefs for choosing and preparing the best sustainable ingredients of summer. Additionally, guests will enjoy a five-course dinner paired with beer from the Flying Fish Brewing Co., wines and cocktails.
A portion of proceeds from the event will benefit “Savoring the Shore,” a cook and memory book that celebrates all that is delectable at the Jersey Shore and donates its proceeds to post-Sandy recovery efforts to help rebuild the Garden State.
“Summer has always been my favorite season – not just for the beautiful beach days at the Jersey Shore but for the abundance of local produce and fish that is available,” said Schlossbach in the release. “This cooking class will demonstrate how best to incorporate local ingredients into summer menus prepared at home.”
Schlossbach is the proprietor of several businesses in the Second Avenue Pavilion, including flagship restaurant Langosta Lounge [shown above], The Asbury Park Yacht Club bar, Lightly Salted Surf Mercado store, Libby’s Beach Shack, a casual seafood fast-food restaurant, and Pop’s Garage, which offers Mexican fare.
Back by popular demand, “Live, Cook, Love – Cooking with Marilyn & Friends” is an added class to Schlossbach’s monthly winter and Spring cooking-class series. Items expected to be included on the evening’s menu include a watermelon gazpacho, cornmeal-dusted soft-shell crab, seared Yellowfin tuna, summer risotto, cast-iron steak and summer desserts.
Tickets to the event are $60.00 per person and include the cooking demonstration, a five-course dinner, beer from Flying Fish Brewing Co., wine and cocktails.
Langosta Lounge is located at 1000 Ocean Avenue in Asbury Park. Reservations will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis. For further information or to reserve a ticket to the June cooking demonstration and dinner, call 732-455-3275.
