Letter: Asbury Park residents urged to register, vote
'You should be concerned about the future of our town'
Editor, Asbury Park Sun,
October 14 is the last day to register to vote. Your mail application must be postmarked by that day. Voter registration forms are available at City Hall, One Municipal Plaza. You can also enter your information electronically, print and mail an application at this link.
You should be concerned about the future of our town. There are two very divergent tickets running for election. This election is crucial as the mayor is determined by the majority of votes received — not by City Council appointment like our last debacle.
You must register to vote. Check out the two tickets: Asbury Together and the opposing ticket, The A Team — Zero Tolerance. One is inclusive and representative of the entire city; the other has yet to come up with a platform and has no-showed debates and requests for interviews.
Do we want an open, accountable form of government, or politics as in the past, which have placed personal interests in lieu of the greater good of the city? I believe the majority of Asbury Park residents want to see the city move forward and want a government that will continue to make Asbury one of the coolest places in the USA. Register to vote, read up on the candidates, ask questions, make your decision – GET INVOLVED! Make Asbury Park a place that ALL residents are proud of. REGISTER. VOTE!
— Patrick Reihing & Jim Heston, Asbury Park
