Editor, Asbury Park Sun,
The Green Acres funding of $1.1 million to the city of Asbury Park for the purposes of developing a waterfront park to preserve beach access means to me and many members of our community, NO Bradley Cove Townhouses to mar the view, open access to the beach or hurt the land and waterways. Asbury Park is given a chance to create and preserve a resilient, sustainable park critical to our environment.
At this point in time and forevermore, our entire earth and all of its natural resources need to be protected, preserved and nurtured because if it is not, we may not survive.
Asbury Park’s natural resource, public beach, ocean, three lakes, and parks are essential to this survival. The most important achievement that the Asbury Park Mayor and Council can accomplish for the people they represent and are charged with, is to preserve, protect and nurture the above, our common inheritance.
Dog and other animal excrement is one of the main causes of e-coli bacteria in coastal lakes and waterways, and has become a problem on beaches where children play. Allowing dogs on the entire North Beach during our biggest and economy driven tourist season and the entire beach from September 15 to May 15 is an affront to the critical need for sustainable healthful life in Asbury Park.
All of us need to find a reasonable solution to this issue.
