Editor, Asbury Park Sun,
In an era of extreme partisanship, it may be unusual for a registered Republican to support a Democrat for State Senate. However, when you block out the political noise, look at a person’s character, and find somebody who aligns with your values, ideals, and economic concerns, you‘d be foolish to not support him just because he’s not on your ticket. I’ve known Vin for a while now and I’ve always been able to approach him and have him hear me out. Vin has proven that he understands the needs of Monmouth residents better than the party-line politicians in Trenton. We may not always agree on everything but we always part friends. Vin gets working people in Monmouth County because, as a small business owner and local resident, he is one of us.
Every family in Monmouth has watched their property taxes creep up each April. Vin’s experience is no different as he’s watched his family struggle to cover the costs of their rising property taxes.
Any entrepreneur can tell you how tough it is to run your own business. When he founded his first business, Community Magazine, Vin had to push through fields of red tape just to make his dream a reality. He knows how hard it can be to find a job, especially with government regulations choking the economy.
We deserve a Senator who’s lived through the same everyday hardships that we have. I trust Vin to fight for all of us in Trenton because it’s his fight, too.
I have no conflict with voting for a candidate that knows we must lower taxes. That’s what will create an environment for real job growth in Monmouth County. Let’s be honest, this guy gets us because he is us. Vote Vin Gopal.

This November, New Jerseyans should be aware of the critical importance of exercising their right to vote, a freedom that should not be taken for granted.
Sadly, otherwise caring people tune out, finding politics too depressing or too much noise. They get overwhelmed by negative ads and never take the time to research a candidate’s position, policies or plans.
As a result, there are far too many people who don’t think their vote will count and won’t bother to vote, especially in off-year elections like this one.
We only need to look at History to see the power of one vote.
In 1776, one vote gave America the English language instead of German.
In 1800, one vote defeated Aaron Burr and elected Thomas Jefferson President.
In 1875, one vote changed France from a monarchy to a republic.
In 1923, one vote gave Adolf Hitler leadership of the Nazi Party.
There is so much at stake for New Jerseyans this year. The margin of victory can be very small in local elections that have a real impact on day-to-day life in each of our communities. So I am urging every registered voter to get out and vote. It is a right and a responsibility. And those who don’t vote will definitely have no voice and only themselves to blame.
