Levitt Amp Summer Music Series set for Springwood Park
Asbury Park Music Foundation Brings Free Concert Series to Westside
The Asbury Park Music Foundation’s 10-week live music series this summer at the new Springwood Park will seek community involvement and local business’ support.
“The Asbury Park Music Foundation is creating the strategic plan for the series that includes marketing, production, entertainment and community engagement,” organizers said in a written news statement. “The Foundation will also rely on local business to help with marketing and promotions of the event.”
The concert series will run Monday’s from June 27 to Aug 29 at the park, located on Springwood between Atkins and Union avenues. The park is slated to open in May.
“The Asbury Park Music Foundation is dedicated to bringing music back to the former entertainment district of the city for the first time in over four decades,” executive director Matt Hockenjos said.
The Foundation was one of fifteen organizations to receive a grant of $25,000 to produce the Levitt AMP Music Series free outdoor concert series. The grant was made possible through a public online voting campaign.
“We would like to thank all who voted and supported us throughout the race,” Hockenjos said. “We could not have done this without your help.”
The concert series will feature a diverse lineup of professional musicians, Hockenjos said.
Last week, Hockenjos traveled to the Levitt Foundation headquarters in Los Angeles, California for a 2-day convening, including a full day conference covering all aspects of the Grant Awards and Concert Series.
The Levitt AMP Asbury Park Music Series is supported in part by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, a private family foundation that helps communities transform neglected public spaces into thriving destinations.
This year, more than 450 free Levitt concerts will take place in 21 towns and cities.
