Light of Day Foundation fundraiser for Asbury Park Dinner Table
Streamed event on Nov. 22 features 19 well-known musical acts
Legendary New Jersey musicians will team up to give a lifeline to Asbury Park restaurants and residents with Shine a Light, an annual festival hosted by Light of Day Foundation, to benefit Asbury Park Dinner Table.
The concert will include Johnny Rzeznik, lead singer of superstar rock act The Goo Goo Dolls. He will be joined by 18 other artists including longtime Bruce Springsteen collaborator Joe Grushecky and his band, The Houserockers, Jim Babjak of The Smithereens, Jersey Shore favorites The Weeklings, and many other Garden State mainstays.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, November 22 at 11:15 am and will be streamed digitally on Light of Day’s YouTube channel and Facebook Page. Viewers can also join the watch party on Asbury Park Dinner Table’s Facebook page.
Asbury Park Dinner Table, an Asbury Park based nonprofit, launched in March of this year to support locally-owned restaurants, as well as Asbury Park area residents who are facing hardship as a result of mandated restaurant closures and unemployment. Funds are raised to purchase meals made by the restaurants, which are then distributed free to charge to those in need.
“Food insecurity has troubled the City of Asbury Park for too long, and what was a chronic condition has become an acute crisis in COVID-19,” said Joe Grillo, co-founder of Asbury Park Dinner Table and an Asbury Park community leader.
“At the same time, the vibrant downtown and boardwalk restaurants that draw visitors to our City are endangered by the economic impact of the pandemic,” said Grillo. “Asbury Park Dinner Table is here to serve both. The Light of Day Foundation raising funds and awareness in support of Asbury Park Dinner Table is a tremendous gift to our community and will go a long way in making the important work we do possible.”
