The Annual Lighting of the Menorah returns 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in Kennedy Park, located in on Cookman Avenue in downtown Asbury Park.

The event is held  in celebration of Chanukah – the commemoration of the Jewish rebellion during the Maccabean War and the miracle of the burning lamp. The eight-branched menorah is lit from left to the right and symbolizes the holiday’s traditions.

Known also as the festival of lights, this year’s celebration will be officiated by Rabbi Yaakov Greenberg and is sponsored by local downtown redeveloper Sackman Enterprises and Chabad of the Shore of Long Branch.

Refreshments will be served and dreidels will be distributed.

Kennedy Park is located at the corner of Cookman and Grand avenues.
