Local law enforcement celebrated in Neptune today
'We encourage all concerned citizens to attend'
On Friday, Jan. 9, partnering organizations in support of law enforcement officers nationwide will promote a National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day [LEAD]. Local agencies will celebrate at 2:00 p.m. in The Performing Arts Center at Neptune Township High School, located at 55 Neptune Blvd, according to a release from Ocean Township police.
The FBI National Academy started LEAD this year to acknowledge officers across the country who risk their lives to protect and serve.
“In light of recent negativity directed toward law enforcement nationally, there is a need to show law enforcement officers that our citizens recognize the difficult and sometimes impossible career they have chosen, in public service to us all,” the release states. “We encourage all concerned citizens to attend and be a part of a national movement to show our support to Law Enforcement.”
Citizens who appreciate law enforcement and are discouraged about the negative attention being given to law enforcement are encouraged take time to show their support at the event.
Anyone who cannot make it can show support by changing a social media profile picture to photo included at right, wear blue clothing, shine a blue light from home, send a card of support to your local police department, organize an event in support of your officers, advertise support through local media, and thanking police officers for their work.
