Long Branch Men Charged with handgun and drug possession
Motor vehicle stop and subsequent foot chase lands pair in Monmouth County Jail
A routine motor vehicle violation stop led to the handgun possession arrest of two Long Branch men Wednesday, according to a news release by the Deal Police Department.
Patrolman Jeff Kless initiated the stop near 7:21 p.m. in the area of Norwood and Brighton Ave.
A subsequent investigation revealed a loaded handgun and controlled dangerous substances in the vehicle.
Following a brief foot chase, Tyshon Kelly, 29, and Jamire Williams, 25, both of Long Branch, were placed under arrest, according to the written statement.
Kelly was charged with the unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow point bullets, and possession of controlled dangerous substances. He was remanded to Monmouth County jail in lieu of $77,500.00 bail.
Williams was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow point bullets, resisting arrest, obstruction, and possession of controlled dangerous substances. He was remanded to Monmouth County Jail in lieu of $97,500.00 bail.
Sergeants Matthew Sharin and Brian Egan, and Patrolmen Nick Vaccaro, Brad Kerney, Chris Mirrione, Dan Lokerson and K9 Atok, assisted in the investigation.
