A 19-year-old city resident was shot twice in his leg early Friday morning, Police Chief Mark Kinmon has said.

The man was shot in his thigh in the area of Bangs Avenue and Comstock Street just before 1 a.m. on July 6, Kinmon said. He then ran to a home in the 1300 block of Bangs Avenue, where 9-1-1 was called.

“He is not aware who shot him and provided very few details,” Kinmon said.

The man was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and has since been released.

There have not been shootings reported recently in that neighborhood, Kinmon said. The investigation is still open.
