Man arrested with handgun, crack cocaine this afternoon, cops say
Two others receive drug charges
Four men were arrested this afternoon following a narcotics investigation, and one of them was found to be in possession of a handgun, Asbury Park Police Captain Anthony Salerno said.
In the 10 block of Dewitt Avenue, between Springwood and Heck avenues, the police department’s narcotics and gang unit made four arrests during the course of a narcotics investigation, Salerno said.
One man was found to be in possession of a small-caliber handgun as well as crack cocaine, while two of the men were found to be in possession of crack cocaine, Salerno said. A fourth was arrested on contempt of court charges.
Salerno declined to disclose the quantity of drugs found on the men.
As a result of the investigation, Sun’cere Smith, 18, of Neptune, was charged with possession of a handgun; possession of a handgun during a narcotics distribution scheme; possession of a controlled dangerous substance [CDS]; possession of CDS with intent to distribute; possession of CDS with intent to distribute in a school zone; and possession of CDS with intent to distribute in a park zone, Salerno said.
Jaszark Rogers, 26, of Asbury Park, and Tykeen Wilson, 24, of Neptune, were both charged with possession of CDS; possession of CDS with intent to distribute; possession of CDS with intent to distribute in a school zone; and possession of CDS with intent to distribute in a park zone, Salerno said.
William Holland, 26, of Asbury Park, was arrested strictly on a contempt of court warrant, Salerno said.
Bail has not yet been set. The arrest occurred around 1 p.m. today, Salerno said.
