A man was shot several times inside the apartment building at 200 Deal Lake Drive early this morning, according to Asbury Park Police Captain Anthony Salerno.

The police received several 9-1-1 calls from area residents reporting gun shots just before 1 a.m. Officers arrived at the same several minutes later.

The man is a resident of 200 Deal Lake Drive, but police are not releasing his name at this time. He is currently hospitalized but his injuries are deemed to be non-life-threatening.

The apartment building at 200 Deal Lake Drive is a hotspot for narcotics activity, but there is no evidence that this shooting was drug-related, Salerno said.

The investigation is ongoing as a joint effort between the Monmouth County Prosecutors Office and the Asbury Park Police Detective Bureau.
