McLoone records radio show with lunchtime crowd, special guests
Show to be recorded on second floor of Supper Club each week
Area restaurateur Tim McLoone hosted his radio show at his Asbury Park Boardwalk eatery yesterday, and hopes to make it a weekly tradition.
McLoone started the show on Nov. 29, but because of damage to McLoone’s Supper Club on the boardwalk due to Hurricane Sandy, this was the first week he was able to hold his show in Asbury Park. He hopes to continue, with shows being taped on Thursday evenings and broadcast on Saturdays at 5 p.m.
The show drew a studio audience of about 40 people to the second floor of Tim McLoone’s Supper Club. Attendees enjoyed a $25 prix fixe lunch starting at noon. Taping went from 1 to 2 p.m.
McLoone plays music and interviews guests who speak about topics like legal issues, health, philanthropy and more. At yesterday’s show, he spoke to actress and singer Marcy D’Arcy; “The Lion King” musical director Karl Jurman; international family law expert Patricia Apy; and Jill Osis, parish administrator for Trinity Soup Kitchen in Asbury Park. Paul Diomede acts as an MC.
“We try to mix it up with different topics,” said McLoone’s corporate liaison Virginia Sanderson. “It’s all people who Tim McLoone is connected to. He likes to bring them on the show, play piano and chat.”
McLoone’s Holiday Express efforts are also in high gear right now, as he and his staff and volunteers will play 60 shows between Thanksgiving and Christmas at soup kitchens, psychiatric hospitals, retirement homes and children’s hospitals.
The Tim McLoone Radio Show can be heard on WOR, AM station 770, each Saturday at 5 p.m. Taping will be held on Monday next week at noon. After that, the show will be recorded on Thursday nights, with doors opening at 6 p.m. For tickets or for more information, call McLoone’s Supper Club at 732-774-1155.
