Monmouth County Female Incomes Gaining On Male Counterparts
Pansop Study Shows Women Increased 12.3% While Men Grew 4.7% from 2009 to 2015
A new study by Pansop.com shows women in Monmouth County had higher income increases than their male counterparts between 2009 and 2015.
While men still make more money than women, the data shows women are closing the gap, a Pansop analyst said.
“Women in Monmouth County have seen a significant increase in income when compared to males,” Data Analyst Kevin Pryor said. “Such changes suggest that women are getting closer towards a more even salary which can be seen on the county level.”
Pansop, a community knowledge sharing website, used U.S Census Bureau data as the base for their study. The analysis found that from 2009 to 2015, the female median income increased by 12.3 percent while male median income increased by 4.7 percent. It also showed that female individual median incomes increased more than the state and national levels, while male’s decreased by a higher amount.
In Asbury Park, the female income increased 10.9 percent as opposed to male 1.79 percent increase during the same six-year period.
While the numbers for women have increased, figures show that the median income for males in 2015 was $51,699 while the median income for females was $28,186, Pryor said.
The Monmouth County statistics represents a trend happening across the nation where females are experiencing a higher increase in income than males, he said.
“This trend indicates that more women are entering higher paying positions in the workforce,” Pryor said. “Efforts made by such women represent movement towards a narrowing pay gap between the two genders.”
