Monmouth University Off Campus Party Ends in Arrests
Charges Include Underage Consumption, Nuisance and Disorderly Conduct
An off campus Monmouth University weekend party ended in multiple arrests, Deal Police Department announced in a Wednesday news release.
Gina Harvat of New Brunswick and Nicole Janny of Millstone, both 22, were charged with maintaining a nuisance and serving or making available alcohol to underage persons. Adelina Vega, 19, of Toms River was charged with disorderly conduct and a borough ordinance violation for underage consumption of alcohol. And, Alyssa Shann, 18, of Asbury Park was issued a borough ordinance violation for underage consumption of alcohol.
Patrolman Nick Dowling was on routine patrol in the area of Monmouth Drive when he observed a group of people walking along Monmouth Drive assisting an intoxicated female, according to the news statement. In conducting a welfare check, Dowling was made aware of a large underage drinking party at 58 Monmouth Drive.
Officers who responded to the address found several people fleeing the home in all directions. After making contact with the home’s residents, Harvat and Janny, the officers assisted in removing the remaining Monmouth University Students and guests.
The four women were released, pending a future court date.
The officers involved included Sgt Brian Egan, Patrolmen Brad Kerney and Christopher Mirrione, and Allenhurst Patrolman Marc Eustace.
