Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Three Drug Possession Arrests
50 bags of heroin found in possession of 2 Neptune men & an Oakhurst woman
Two Neptune men and an Oakhurst woman were arrested Tuesday on heroin possession and other drug related charges after a motor vehicle stop and subsequent investigation yielded the confiscation of 50 bags of heroin, Ocean Township Police officials said.
Detectives Michael Melody and Jesse Orbach conducted the traffic stop near 6:25 p.m. at the Towne Shopping Center on Route 35 after observing a narcotic transaction, according to a news release.
During their roadside investigation, Sheriff’s Officer David Lasko along with K-9 Edge were called in to assist. The roadside investigation led to the arrest of 61-year-old Nick Vitrano and Eric Durki, 29, found to be in possession of 14 bags of. The Neptune residents were also charged with wandering for the purpose of purchasing narcotics, and Durki also garnered an obstruction charge.
Officials said further investigation led them to Oakhurst resident Katelyn Sherlotti, believed to be involved in the aforementioned narcotic transaction.
The 26-year-old was arrested at her Oakhurst home and charged with possession with intent to distribute narcotics.

During the arrest Sherlotti turned over 36 bags of heroin packaged for sale. Syringes, empty heroin bags and other paraphernalia were also discovered at her residence. Her vehicle a 2016 Honda Civic was seized pending civil forfeiture proceedings as it was used in the commission of a crime.
Sherlotti was charged with two counts for possession with the intent to distribute narcotics, two counts of possession of heroin, wandering, possession of hypodermic syringes and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was remitted to Monmouth County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, officials said.
Vitrano and Durkin were released on a criminal summons, pending a future court appearance.
