Talking Heads joins Thanksgiving Themed Food Collection
Move for Hunger has partnered with area business to help stave off hunger, particularly through the Thanksgiving holiday season.
“Nearly 120,000 people, including, 1 in 6 children, in Monmouth and Ocean Counties struggle with food insecurity,” spokesman Dan Beam said.
The local nonprofit works with a network of moving companies across the nation to fight hunger and reduce food waste. Aside from collecting food from people who are moving, Move For Hunger helps organize food drives. To date, they have collected more than 7 million pounds of food, Beam said.

Below, is a list of Move For Hunger food drives:
• Running through Nov. 23, Motion City Media is asking its realtors and their sellers to bring donations to their photoshoots. The company works directly with realtors to photograph homes about to go on the market. Motion City Media photographers will pick up the donations and deliver them to The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, located in Neptune.
• From Nov 1 to 18, Talking Heads Barbershop, located at 415 Bond Street, will collect donations from its patrons and Asbury Park residents. Lowy’s Moving Service, a Wheaton agent, will pick up and deliver the donations to The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties.
• And from Nov 1 to Dec 31, Crossfit Delirium of Eatontown will run its annual holiday food drive. Gym members and the local community can drop off non-perishable items at the fitness center’s 6 Industrial Way West facility. Last year, Crossfit Delirium collected 134 pounds of food, equating to 112 meals.
