Neptune boys, 15, charged with gun and drug possession
APPD Casey: the two boys were remanded to Youth Detention Center
Two Neptune teens were charged with unlawful possession of a weapon near 6 p.m. Friday following a tip to the Asbury Park Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit, according to a news release from spokesman Michael Casey.
The 15-year-old boys were taken into custody outside a Washington Avenue home, Casey said.
They each possessed firearms, one being a .38 special revolver handgun and the other a 9 millimeter handgun, both of which were loaded with hollow point rounds. Also recovered in the investigation were 13 bags of a high grade marijuana.
Also taken into custody on scene for interfering with the investigation was a Zamir Wordsworth, 19, of Neptune. He was processed at headquarters and charged with obstruction and released on a summons.
The two juveniles also were charged with possession of hollow point ammunition and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. They were processed and transported to the Monmouth County Youth Detention Center until a court hearing.
