Neptune man charged with heroin possession
Illegal attempt to cross Route 66 in ongoing traffic led to arrest
A 36-year-old Neptune man attempting to cross Route 66 in front of ongoing traffic tried to discard 20 bags of heroin as police officials approached, according to news release issued by Ocean Township Police Department spokesman Det. Lt. Timothy R Torchia.
According to the written statement, Shawn Moore was observed near 7:57 p.m. Monday by plain clothes patrol officers Chris Clune and Dean Schoch near Seaview Square Mall.

The officers who were assigned to a plain clothes detail were riding together in an unmarked police vehicle. They observed a subject later identified as Shawn Moore crossing Route #66 out of the crosswalk and in front of traffic. After observing the violation the officers approached the subject who immediately discarded 20 bags of heroin. Moore was taken into custody and was found be in possession of crack pipe as well, he was subsequently transported to the station for processing.
Moore was charged with possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, and issued a summons for failing to cross at a crosswalk. He was released on a criminal complaint, with a pending court date, officials said.
