Master waterfront redeveloper iStar has submitted a new exterior plan for a controversial pool club to be located on the west side of the boardwalk in front of the North Beach mid-rise condominiums.

The new design [above] was presented to the Planning Board at its meeting tonight where it continued to hear testimony on the site plan application for the project.

Project architect Gary Handel [right] testified virtually that the new design represents an “international modern” style which is an approved style under the waterfront redevelopment guidelines.

The prior design had live vines on the exterior facing Ocean Avenue. In the new design, a façade of white stucco will replace the vines.

The Planning Board will continue hearing testimony on the pool club application on October 19.
