New Smith restaurant set to open Sunday on Cookman
Homesick will feature seasonal menus and "really simple, beautiful food and drinks"
A new Cookman Avenue restaurant from Smith — called Homesick — is set to open its doors with a soft opening on Sunday, May 30 and a full opening on Thursday of next week (June 3).
Located at the former site of the Brickwall tavern, Homesick will focus on “really simple, beautiful food and drinks…the menu will change often throughout the seasons, with everything made from scratch (most of it by us, some of it by our friends),” according to a statement issued by Smith.
There will also be a market inside of the restaurant which will feature “brands we love”, according to the statement. Market items will include smallware, flatware, oils, spices, canned foods and apparel.
The Asbury Park based Smith also owns and operates Porta and Pascal and Sabine in the city.
From the Smith statement:
“We’ll be soft opening up to the public for outdoor dining only from noon to 7pm on Sunday – offering a small menu. We’re open noon to 7pm on Monday as well (outdoor dining and small menu). Sunday and Monday are walk-ins only. Closed Tuesday and Wednesday this week, with full indoor/outdoor dining available to the public starting on Thursday 6/3 at 4pm. We’ll be opening up our reservations tomorrow for seating on Thursday 6/3 and beyond. Friday 6/4 and Saturday 6/5 hours are 4pm to 1am. Sunday 6/6 hours are 4pm to 11pm.”
“We’re super excited for this one. It’s an idea that’s been kicking around our collective heads for the last 15 years, and we felt like now was the perfect time to make it happen.”
“We’re focused on really simple, beautiful food and drinks at Homesick – the menu will change often throughout the seasons, with everything made from scratch (most of it by us, some of it by our friends). It’s going to be light and fun and constantly changing.”
“There will also be a market inside of the restaurant where we’ll be curating goods from brands we love. Smallware, flatware, oils, spices, canned foods, apparel – an ever-rotating arrangement of things that we appreciate and that we’d like to share with our guests, so they can bring Homesick with them wherever they go.”
