New Year’s Eve Throws Back In And Around Asbury Park
Celebrations Include Homage to Studio 54 Era, The Bee Gees & Prince’s Party Like It’s 1999
As we look forward to 2018, New Year’s Celebrations in and around Asbury Park tip their hats to the most memorable of times past.
Thousands are expected to pack the Grand Arcade at Convention Hall as the MMs crew delivers a nod to Studio 54 disco days. Guests are encouraged to dress to impress this 9 p.m to 1:30 a.m. celebration featuring DJs Atom Worth [shown if feature photo], Foggy Notion, and Mike Merrell. Tickets are $130 with the $210 VIP tickets including private seating overlooking the festivities, a private lounge, food and champagne toast package, and private servers. There are discounted rates for groups of 10 or more and the open bar kicks off at 10 p.m. Convention Hall is located at 1300 Ocean Ave on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. It’s a New Year’s Eve Soul Pop from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at The Asbury with Remember Jones and his 12 piece band. DJ Prestige spins in between the two sets and the night’s menu features a 9 p.m. to midnight open bar, passed hors d’oeuvres and a live look at the Times Square Ball Drop. The legendary Stone Pony offers ‘90s tribute as some of the city’s best bands cover everything from Third Eye Blind, Foo Fighters and No Doubt to White Stripes, The Beastie Boys and Tori Amos. Local favorites Des and the Swagmatics headline at Langosta Lounge on the Asbury Park Boardwalk while DJs Marguerite King & Ron Santee spin at the neighboring Asbury Park Yacht Club. The free celebrations kick off at 10 p.m. Langosta Lounge and the APYC are located at 1000 Ocean Ave in the Third Avenue Pavilion on the Asbury Park Boardwalk. At the downtown’s popular House of Independents on Cookman Avenue, they will be partying like it’s 1999, with DJs Funsize and Tyler Valentine spinning riffs during this mega sized dance party. Doors open at 9 p.m. and tickets are $5 but there are $40 VIP tickets that gets access to an onstage lounge, complete with a private bar, and a chance to win throwback prizes like Gameboy, Nintendo, and Tamagotchis. The Saint‘s Fifth Annual New Year’s Eve Bash features New Orleans-based The Soul Project, described as a group that digs deep into the soulful grooves set by O.V. Wright and Wilson Pickett, the funky moves of James Brown and Maceo Parker, the old school cool of the Meters and The Neville Brothers, and the feel-good fuel of the Crescent City itself. Door open at 8 p.m. with the open bar option running from 9 to 11:30 p.m. There’s also a food buffet and free midnight champagne toast. The Weeklings headline the Cross & Orange Rock & Roll Bash event kicking off at 8:30 p.m. Featuring a 9 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. open bar, chef attended food stations, butler style passed hors d’oeuvres, and a champagne toast, DJ Topkat spins Motown, soul and funk compilations. Over at Mr Cs in Allenhurst a New Year’s Eve Dinner and Show dance party features the area’s legendary entertainer Billy Brown. Special guests April Wells Josephson and Erica Kostyz join in on this R&B tribute to Motown, ‘70s soul classics and disco. Party favors, door prizes, giveaways and awards for best dressed couple and dancers will be given. Mr. Cs is located at Ocean Place at Allen Avenue.
