Cause remains under investigation and residence left uninhabitable
A Sunday afternoon blaze at a Seward Drive home was put down without incident or injuries but left the residence uninhabitable, according to an Ocean Township Police Department news release issued by Det. Lt. Timothy R Torchia.
Officers Michael DeSimone and Daniel Weber responded near 12:11 p.m. to the Seward Drive home, according to the report.
From the news release:
Upon arrival, they observed smoke coming from the residence. As other officers were arriving DeSimone and Weber forced the front door open. Efforts to clear the residence were made until the smoke conditions prohibited further search.
The fire, which was confined to a second floor bedroom left the single family, two floor residence uninhabitable. No residents were injured and all were accounted for.
The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Ocean Township District #2 Fire Marshal Dean Schoch and the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office.
Firefighters from the Wanamassa Fire Department, Oakhurst Fire Department and the Tinton Falls Fire Department assisted. Sergeants Paul Flammia and Matthew Jackiewicz, and Patrol Officers Jason Lester, Matthew Guido and Karen Noel also assisted.
