Rock legends from Bruce Springsteen to Southside Johnny and The Bouncing Souls found a home to expand their sound in a struggling city, organizers said in a written statement. From rock to punk to a little-remembered electro phase, The Stone Pony has been an integral part of music history, and Asbury park history, for decades.

On Monday, New York Times reporter Nick Corasaniti join former manager Councilwoman Eileen Chapman, director of the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music at Monmouth University; Bruce Springsteen’s first drummer Vini Lopez; and current manager Caroline O’Toole in presenting The Stone Pony – An Evening of Music and Memories, featuring a live performance by Southside Johnny.

Corasaniti, a Jersey based reporter and author of the venue’s oral history, will lead a panel discussion aimed at digging into the Pony’s past, present and future, with particular attention to how the iconic club rode the ups and downs. His interview with Springsteen on the Stone Pony is available here.

Tickets to the event are $10 via The Stone Pony website. Doors open at 6:30 pm, with the program beginning at 7:30 pm. There will also be a live performance by Southside Johnny. The Stone Pony is located at 913 Ocean Avenue.
