Ocean Grove Holds 24th Annual Victorian Holiday
Tours, high tea, music and tree lighting on two-day schedule
The historic community of Ocean Grove will hold its 24th Annual Victorian Holiday House and Inn Tour event Saturday and Sunday.
Sponsored by the Ocean Grove Chamber of Commerce, the self guided tour event offers an inside look at not only its homes and inns but some of its knew and historic venues.
From 10 to 4 p.m. Saturday torus can be taken throughout nine homes and cottages; seven inns and bed and breakfast; the Historical Society of Ocean Grove museum; one of the community’s renowned tents; the Jersey Shore Arts Center; Grove Hall Retreat Center; and the newly constructed 10-bedroom home of cancer support nonprofit Mary’s Place by the Sea.
Other highlights include the Christmas display in the Historical Society Museum and the Ladies’ Auxiliary Christmas Shoppe in the Community Room, located at 54 Pitman Avenue. There will be a guided tour of the Great Auditorium and complimentary jitney service.
At 5 p.m. a Nativity Christmas Pageant in the Great Auditorium will be followed by the 6 p.m. Christmas Tree Lighting with carols by the Great Auditorium Choir. At 7 p.m. Christmas on Silver Pond will be performed in the Youth Temple.
On Sunday, tours continue from noon to 3 p.m.; the Ladies’ Auxiliary Christmas Shoppe will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and a tour and six-course High Tea with historian Kim Brittingham kick off at 1 p.m.
Tour tickets are $30, available at the Chamber of Commerce office at 45 Pilgrim Pathway. Tickets to the Sunday High Tea event are $40, also available at the Chamber office.
