BP service station robbed near 9 p.m. Wednesay
Ocean Township Police Department is asking the public’s help in finding the suspect in Wednesday night’s armed robbery at the BP service station on Route 66.
Department spokesman Dt. Lt. Kevin Faller said police responded to a reported armed robbery at the service station near 9:09 p.m.
Their investigation revealed that a black male described as 5’9” to 5’10” wearing a black sweatshirt, black hat and a mask was armed with a handgun when he robbed the gas station’s lone attendant of cash before fleeing the area on foot.
Neptune Township Police Department and the Monmouth County Sheriff’s Department assisted local police in a search of the area but they were unsuccessful in finding the gunman, Faller said.
The suspect was last seen heading east toward Applebee’s Restaurant.
The Ocean Township Police Department is asking anyone who may have witnessed the robbery contact Det. Bryan Morgan at (732) 531-1428 or use their anonymous tip hotline by calling (732) 531-3323 or emailing crimetips@oceantwp.org.
Ocean Township Patrolmen Gregory Martone and Zachary Rhein, Sgt Dimitrios Kelesidis, Sgt. Paul Flammia, assisted Detectives Michael Melody and Bryan Morgan.
