Ocean police help woman deliver baby boy in back of taxi
Cab was parked in the 7-Eleven lot on Deal Road
Two Ocean Township Police officers helped a 28-year-old woman deliver her baby in the parking lot of a 7-Eleven convenience store in the township, according to a new release from Ocean Township Police.
Ocean Police received a call at 5:49 p.m. Wednesday alerting them to a woman in a vehicle who was in labor in the store’s parking lot, located at 807 Deal Road.
Officers Raheem Carter and Kyle Kane [shown above, respectively] responded and found a 28-year-old Lakewood woman in the back seat of a taxi cab in active labor. As the two officers were awaiting the arrival of emergency personnel the mother began giving birth.

“We give it to officers who have delivered babies during the line of duty,” said Kevin Faller, spokesman for the Ocean Township Police Department. “They are permitted to wear it on their uniform above their badges.”
Shortly after the delivery, Oakhurst First Aid and MONOC paramedics arrived and transported both mother and baby to Monmouth Medical Center.
