Oysterfest kicks off Friday with nod to community
Three day festival couples food and music with crafts and games
Oysterfest is back and the three day festival kicks off Friday with a community nod entitled – Asbury Park Open House Night.
Held from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, organizers have waived the $3 entrance fee and will feature a beer from Main Street-located Dark City Brewing Company, the city’s first microbrewery.
Sponsored by the Asbury Park Chamber of Commerce, the event is held in the parking lot just outside the iconic Carousel building,
While an array of oysters showcased in varying recipes is the spotlight, there’s other seafood delights and festival fare to enjoy from over 25 vendors, organizers said. Wine and craft beers will also be available.
Coupled with a full lineup of live music performance, there are over 50 craft vendors and, new this year, are festival games courtesy of Paladin Amusements.
Over 30,000 people are expected to attend the weekend festival, which also runs from noon to 10 pm. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. A portion of the $3 weekend entry fee helps to supports the local Asbury Park Toy Drive, which works throughout the year to collect holiday gifts it distributes to city children.
Children ages 12 and younger can enter free of charge and the event is dog friendly, organizers said. There will also be a designated bicycle parking area.
