The Asbury Park and Monmouth County Democrats will host a town hall event featuring US Congressman Frank Pallone Jr from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Langosta Lounge, located at 1000 Ocean Avenue on the Asbury Park boardwalk.

Joe Grillo, chair of the city’s Democratic party, said the meeting is being held to help inform and activate the community about the state of the upcoming 2018 midterm election and what’s at stake locally.

“Congressman Pallone is a rarity – as anti-Trump as any other New Jersey Democrat,” Grillo said. “He’s also a policy wonk who will sit there and explain, in detail, the intricacies and complexities of federal sustainability policy or the ideal national health care system.”

Topics of conversation will include a wide range of Issues, including gun violence and environment sustainability to pushing back against the Trump administration’s policies by working to win the House and Senate in November, Grillo said.

“We’re so grateful that Pallone pays particular attention to the voters and residents of Asbury Park,” Grillo said.

The free public event, complete with snacks and refreshments, will include opportunities on how to get involved.

In related news, Sen. Vin Gopal is joining forces with the Monmouth County Democrats in support of the Asbury Park Democrats. A fundraiser will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 pm Monday at Parlor Gallery, located at 707 Cookman Ave.

The event is also being held to inform and activate the local community on the issues leading up to the midterm elections, and will feature a voter registration table.

Refreshments and appetizers will be served and the suggested donation is $25.
